Creative agency Joint has launched its own campaign to tackle drunk e-bicycle riding in the UK capital.

The campaign comes after a survey from the agency found that 1 in 3 respondents admitted to riding Lime bicycles while drunk, despite the illegality and danger of such activities.

The survey revealed that 45% of people didn’t view riding an electric bike after drinking as dangerous.

As part of the campaign, Joint has placed removable stickers on Lime bikes in popular city spots to encourage people to choose a safer way home.

The stickers contain messages such as “Don’t Drink and Lime” and “Peddles And Pints Don’t Mix”. £20 Uber gift cards are also being attached to the bikes.

According to Joint’s survey, 51% of those surveyed said they cycled while drinking as it was cheaper than the alternatives, while 37% said they drunk e-cycled as their friends wanted to.

The survey also highlighted that 63% of respondents believed drunk e-cycling needed to be policed better.

Joint founder Damon Collins said: “The holidays are about celebrating and enjoying time with loved ones, but safety is too easily overlooked

“E-bikes are great for getting around cities, but after drinking, they’re not a safe, or legal, option. A simple reminder in the right moment can encourage someone to make a better decision – for themselves and for others.”
