A Glasgow private school believes it has become an unexpected contender for the best Christmas ad of the year, with a heartwarming film demonstrating creativity and team spirit.

Kelvinside Academy in Glasgow has released The Snow-in, a short film that has already gathered nearly 200,000 views online.

The film, developed by Story Shop and produced by Lost Clock Productions, and tells the story of students and staff who find themselves snowed in at the school during a storm. Instead of panicking, the school community transforms the situation into a collaborative and festive adventure, including building a makeshift cinema with student engineers.

The Snow-in features Kelvinside Academy’s own pupils and staff, including Rector Dan Wyatt in a comedy turn as Tom Hanks’ character in Castaway

The school has used its already-engaged community and social media presence to spread the message, with some describing it as “better than a John Lewis advert”.

“The Snow-in combines professional-grade production by Lost Clock with grassroots amplification, demonstrating how smaller budgets can still deliver a big impact,” said Scarlett Hollerin, co-founder of Story Shop.
