A new charity campaign by Crisis is looking to transform grudges into goodwill this festive season. The Christmas Coal Shop, a creative fundraising initiative, will allow people to send lumps of coal to those on their ‘naughty list’ all in the name of a good cause.
Kent-based creative agency, Department of Creativity has partnered with homelessness charity Crisis, to launch the innovative Christmas campaign.
Every purchase from Santa’s Naughty List will contribute to the Crisis at Christmas appeal, with all proceeds going directly to support those facing homelessness.

The online shop offers a range of donation options, from £5 to £100, with each lump of coal cleverly named. Donors can choose from pun-filled options such as Coal Runnings, Macoalay Coalkin and Coalilocks.

To add a personal touch, each lump can be accompanied by a customised message, ensuring recipients understand why they’ve made the Naughty List.

“We wanted to do something that could turn a negative feeling, perhaps from someone who has peeved you off in some way, into a positive outcome,” explained William Upfield, co-founder of Department of Creativity.
“We’ve all heard the stories of bad children getting lumps of coal in their stockings at Christmas – now anyone can have a fun bit of vengeance while giving a helping hand to those who need it.”
