AMV BBDO’s chief strategy officer Martin Weigel has revealed that he is set to leave the London-based agency to set up his own consultancy business in 2025.

Before joining the creative agency in April 2023, Weigel worked for Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam for 13 years and previously worked in the US, UK and Brazil.

AMV Group chief executive Xavier Rees commented: “It has been a real privilege to work with Martin over the last six months.

“He is an intellectual force, and I have no doubt he will make great waves as he tries his hand in the world of consultancy. We wish Martin the very best of luck.”

Weigel has also held positions at Leo Burnett in London where he worked for two and a half years and J Walter Thompson in New York where he worked for six years.

He said: “After three decades in advertising and calling three continents home, it’s time to try something new (ie scare myself again), paint on a differently shaped canvas, start my own strategic consulting business… and see what happens.”

Throughout his career, Weigel has worked on many projects including Heineken’s ‘Open Your World Campaign’ where he led the global strategy.

He has also worked with a range of top international brands including Instagram, Meta Reality Labs, Uber, and Samsung.

According to AMV BBDO, a new chief strategy officer is set to be appointed in due course.
