Dentsu X MD leaves for upstart digital agency

Dentsu X's managing director, Kim Berkin is leaving her role after more than five years in post to take up the same position with Charlie Oscar.

Dentsu X’s managing director, Kim Berkin is leaving her role after more than five years in post to take up the same position with digital marketing agency Charlie Oscar.

Berkin’s appointment will be one of two made by the agency with Will Frappell set to join as its commercial director, leaving his role as CMO of of fitness app EvolveYou in the process.

In her new role, Berkin will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of Charlie Oscar’s strategic development, operations and client relationships. She will also head up the account and client services teams.

“Kim is a valued part of the Dentsu family, having spent nine years with us. Kim is leaving us to pursue her ambition of building an independent business. I am excited for Kim as she embarks on her entrepreneurial journey whilst I am sad to see her leave. We wish her well,” Dentsu UK and Ireland media practice CEO, Jenny Bullis told Campaign.

“Kim’s departure does not alter our plans for growth across Dentsu media or Dentsu X, and I am excited for our own plans for the rest of the year and beyond.”

Frappell will be tasked with driving Charlie Oscar’s commercial growth as it looks to expand its operations. He will also lead the sales and marketing team.

Charlie Oscar CEO, James Connelly added: “We have ambitious plans to innovate within this dynamic industry and bolstering our leadership team with these hires moves us forward.”
