Vinnie Jones gives Chelsea stars emotional mental health team-talk

Former Wimbledon and Chelsea star turned Hollywood actor Vinnie Jones is encouraging Chelsea players and fans to open up about their mental health in a new Three UK spot.

Created in partnership with suicide prevention charity the Samaritans, the hero film urges sport fans to ‘Talk more than football’ in a bid to improve the nation’s mental health.

Forming part of a long-running campaign by the telecom firm, this latest instalment was developed by creative agency Wonderhood Studios and sees Jones give the Chelsea dressing room a rousing team-talk about the vital importance of reaching out when we’re struggling with our mental health.

“While the UK loves chatting football, we could make a huge difference to our mental health by taking a minute to talk about something more,” Wonderhood Studios ECD, Guy Hobbs said.

“In this second iteration of our campaign, we hope to continue to change the narrative and get sports fans up and down the country to follow in Vinnie’s footsteps and look out for each other, listen to each other and help save lives.”

Set to run on social media and across TNT and Sky Sports until 7 April, the film features first team regulars Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson alongside Robert Sánchez and Alfie Gilchrist.

Three UK director of marketing, Aislinn O’Connor added: “With Vinnie Jones delivering a compelling team talk, we want communities to use their shared passions, like football, to open up about mental health.

“The campaign is a unique collaboration bringing together our sponsorship and charity partners to deliver an important message to this audience that it helps to talk about more than football.”
