EssenceMediacomX appoints new head of planning

London-based agency EssenceMediacomX has named former Mindshare strategy partner David Grainger as its new head of planning.

He replaces Alina Kulesza, he takes up his new role immediately.

With Kulesza now working as global head of planning, Grainger has been tasked with leading a team of 100 planners across the UK and spearheading the agency’s media planning strategies.

Grainger, who has been freelance for the past year, has previously worked at a range of top agencies, including Vizeum and iProspect.

“For years Essence was the agency that all other shops were trying to emulate, and since joining forces with Mediacom as EssenceMediacomX early last year, the team has continued to go from strength to strength,” Grainger said.

“EMX has built a brilliant culture and I’m delighted to be leading the planning discipline as we lean into a changing marketing landscape.”

The move follows a series of high-profile shake-ups at EssenceMediacom X, with Clare Chapman joining as CEO in November and David Wilding becoming chief strategy officer.

Chapman added: “Adding people of the calibre of David to our team is testament to our commitment to data and insight driven excellence. His expertise will be instrumental in crafting innovative campaigns that reflect the dynamism of today’s media landscape.”
