Nando’s has brought back its ‘hottest ever heat level’ Vusa XX Hot, promoting the sauce by creating a liability waiver.
Inspired by its Southern Africa heritage – in Zulu ‘Vusa’ means ‘excitement and fire’ – Nando’s Vusa XX Hot flavour is said to be spicier than its ‘Extra-Hot’ level on the chain’s self-devised ‘PERi-ometer’.
In order to highlight the heat of the marinade, the chicken chain has devised a tongue-in-cheek liability waiver which asks customers to confirm ‘I know where to find the Bottomless Froyo machine’.
The marketing stunt for the sauce also contains copy such as “I certify I’m fully aware it’s fiery, fierce and has earned its rightful place at the top of the PERi-ometer.
“I’ll enjoy the legendary taste, hot sweats and bragging rights – because every mouthful’s a madness.
“After consideration, I waive my rights to complain about any spicy side effects, including but not limited to, streaming eyes and panting in front of my mates (or date).
“I’m also aware it’s limited edition and agree to keep my cool on socials when it’s no longer available. Promise.”
For a limited time only, spice fans can order the brand’s Vusa XX Hot sauce on an extensive list of menu items from wings to wraps.
