EE has launched its latest Kevin Bacon campaign ‘Snakes’ in a bid to ‘hiss’ slow broadband speeds goodbye with EE Full Fibre.

The 30-second TV advert, developed by the broadband provider’s advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi UK, intends to illustrate the discomfort felt when peak-time Wi-Fi speeds are slower than originally promised.

Beginning with a close-up of Kevin Bacon’s alarmed face, the commercial sees a gigantic boa constrictor slither around the living room and crush Bacon’s broadband router.

The actor asks: “Have you ever asked yourself the question? Can you really count on your broadband, or does it slither along? Or at peak times do things feel a little… constricted?”

The ad however, shifts in tone when Bacon reminds viewers that with EE customers will always get the speed they are promised.

“We all know just how frustrating it can be when you don’t get what you pay for. With our new broadband campaign, we wanted to remind our customers that they can count on EE and with our Full Fibre Broadband, they will always get the peak time speeds they pay for,” EE marketing communications director, Pete Jeavons, said.

The campaign – planned by Essence – will roll out across out-of-home (OOH), video on demand (VOD) and social channels, as well as featuring in several prime TV spots.
