Global CEO of Dentsu International is set to step down after two years

Dentsu International’s global chief executive Wendy Clark is set to step down, according to reports from Campaign Live.

There has as of yet been no official confirmation that Clark is leaving her role.

The news may come as a surprise to some considering the fact that she has only acted as CEO of the ‘big six’ agency for two years.

Clark joined the Japanese group on 1 September 2020 after resigning as chief executive of the Omnicom-owned agency DDB. She has also worked as a marketer for Coca-Cola.

The CEO is regarded by many to be the most senior female creative agency head in global advertising.

A Dentsu representative told Marketing Beat: “A cross-functional global team of our Executive leaders has been working on our long-term road-map for Dentsu. We have strong confidence that this will continue our progress in driving growth and making client impact. We expect to communicate more fully as we finalise this planning process.”

During Clark’s reign, Dentsu International has reported 8.4% organic revenue growth in the first half of this year.

At the 2022 Cannes Lions Festival in June, Clark hosted a talk with Ryan Reynolds and discussed the importance of humour and self-awareness in advertising. The A-lister shared insights of his experience of being the chief creative officer for MNTN/Maximum Effort.

In July, Dentsu UK also partnered with 55/Redefined in an attempt to tackle ageism within the marketing and advertising industries.

The ‘big six’ agency is the fourth largest agency group in the world, employing up to 65,000 staff members.
