Hull-based builder’s merchant MKM has worked with builder-turner rapper 2K Da Builder to release their own promotional music video.

MKM produced the track as part of its latest social media campaign, putting its own twist on the ‘drill’ subgenre with construction-themed lyrics: “Paint on the wall still dripping /Fling on my boots when I’m putting a shift in/Hard as steel like an RSJ/Porcelain paving, new driveway”.

Intended as an ode to builders and the construction industry, the track is inspired by the Daily Duppy YouTube freestyle series, a platform which has featured some of the UK’s biggest rappers.

The accompanying social media push is set to be launched across the Facebook, TikTok and YouTube social media platforms.

“Working with 2K on the track has been a great experience. We wanted to create something a little bit different to what you would expect for a building supplier, and get our personality as a brand out there a little bit more,” MKM social lead, Scott Parsons said.

“We’ve shown that like in music, in our industry you can definitely embrace being yourself and having a laugh on the job.”
