Aperol Spritz is recreating an Italian piazza in Covent Garden, complete with pavement-style seating, a bocce pitch, a double-tier bar and a revolving scooter-themed bar.

The event, which will open on 8 June and run until 19 June, will join the Aperol piazzas which are already open in Birmingham and Bournemouth, until 30 September. A fourth pop-up square will be opened in Manchester, running from 13-24 July.

The so-called ‘Piazza Aperol’ aims to bring a taste of vibrant Italian town-centre squares to the UK for the first time.

The alcohol brand said it was seeking an outdoor promotional event this year, after it identified a perceived cultural shift in the drinking and dining habits of British people post-pandemic, who were now more open and enthusiastic towards al-fresco socialising.

“The Italian piazza is the beating heart of any town or city, where family and friends come together to mark the end of the working day, and the beginning of the evening to come,” Campari Group UK Italian icons brand ambassador, Loris Contro said.

“With this summer set to be more sociable than ever, Piazza Aperol will transport you to Italy with its celebration of the spontaneous and joyful, continental way of life.

“As an Italian, I know how important embracing these moments is, and what better way to do it than in the sunshine with a perfectly poured Aperol Spritz and good company?”
