Sonos and Liverpool Football Club (LFC) have collaborated to debut a new radio station, “Anfield Pre-Match Anthems”, which will include a competition for grassroots football players.
The radio station, hosted by footballing legend John Barnes, will play songs chosen by the Liverpool FC dressing room and include a mix of musical genres such as Dance, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Pop and R&B.
As part of the launch, the audio brand will also give players from youth football teams across the country the chance to win a premium Sonos sound system for their club. Contestants will be required to share their favourite tunes and pre-match rituals on Instagram.
The promotion is part of a campaign to bring the sounds of the Anfield stadium to viewers watching from home.

“Sonos and Liverpool Football Club are spotlighting how sound is instrumental to creating community and building hype before a match, whether it’s a stadium’s loud roar or voices chanting in unison at a pub,” Sonos said.
“In fact, nearly half (48%) of fans feel more confident singing or chanting along at home than in a stadium, with over a quarter (27%) saying it makes them feel like they’re part of a community and 16% admitting they love the opportunity to shout and cheer.”
Liverpool FC players Sadio Mane and Alison Becker will also feature in an advertising campaign to promote the radio station premiere.
Sonos vice president of marketing Pete Pedersen added: “LFC fans are some of the loudest in the world, with a passion for sound that’s as strong as their love of the team.”
“We wanted to bring the hair-raising excitement you hear at Anfield stadium to the club’s global fanbase, so that no matter where you’re watching the match, it feels as though you’re actually there.”
